An inviting and fairly easy to prepare plate that consists of salmon glazed with a honey-based sauce.
Prep time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 15 minutes Total time: 20 minutes Yield: 4 people (simply increase or decrease the salmon fillet slices depending on how many people you plan to feed)
The ingredients are as following though I usually put more honey as I prefer a little more sweetness in the sauce, I also used some crunchy herbs to add a little more variation to the recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1/3 c. honey
- 1/4 c. low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
- 3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 4 6-oz. salmon fillets, patted dry with a paper towel
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, sliced into rounds
(NOTE: take into account all amounts are purely an indication, if you feel like it you can increase the amount of ingredients to your liking!)
INSTRUCTIONS

In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice and red pepper flakes. - Step 2
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat two tablespoons oil. When oil is hot but not smoking, add salmon skin-side up and season with salt and pepper. Cook salmon until deeply golden, about 6 minutes, then flip over and add remaining tablespoon of oil. - Step 3
Add garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Add the honey mixture and sliced lemons and cook until sauce is reduced by about 1/3. Baste salmon with the sauce. - Step 4
Garnish with sliced lemon and serve.
Tips & Notes
- when preparing the sauce I recommend adding some cornstarch or some flour to thicken it and make it stick a bit to the salmon, giving it more flavour and a more glaze-like feel
- when cooking the salmon I made a mistake and added the sauce way to early, doing this I prevented the salmon from forming the crust it needs and almost burned the sauce. to prevent this from happening I suggest adding the sauce after the crust is fairly noticeable.
